Prior to joining Alberta Enterprise Williams worked for numerous technology companies where her responsibilities spanned the spectrum of legal, regulatory, international and new business development, corporate strategic planning, intellectual property management, and marketing and sales. Kristina holds an MBA from the University of Alberta, a Master of Laws from the University of Uppsala, and accreditation for the Venture Capital Executive Program from the University of California, Berkeley – Walter A. Haas School of Business. Furthermore, in 2010, Kristina was named one of Edmonton’s Top 40 under 40.
Director of Investments
Rebecca Giffen has over fifteen years of experience in the Canadian venture capital industry. Rebecca is currently Director of Investments with Alberta Enterprise Corporation. She is also Executive Director and Board Member of the the Venture Capital Association of Alberta. Prior to joining AEC, Rebecca was Director of Fund Investments for BDC Venture Capital, where she was responsible for managing an extensive portfolio of Canadian venture capital and private equity fund investments. Rebecca has a strong background in portfolio management, conducting industry research, performing financial analysis and undertaking due diligence. Rebecca also spent several years as an Investment Analyst with BDC’s Information Technology group. Rebecca holds both MBA and Bachelor of Commerce degrees from the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary.
Director of Investments
Paul Godman has over 20 years’ experience in corporate and venture capital finance, renewable energy, as well as leadership in corporate sustainability. Prior to joining Alberta Enterprise Corporation, Paul held roles managing EnCana’s clean energy corporate venture fund, managing Cenovus Energy’s Sustainability Team, as well as roles with TransAlta hydro operations and in environmental consulting. He has also served as the Chair of the non-profit the Alberta EcoTrust. Paul holds an M.Sc. from the University of Calgary, a B.Sc. from the University of Waterloo, as well as various accreditations in finance and leadership.
Director of Industry Development
Kenya Kondo has over ten years of experience in international marketing and strategic planning focused on initiatives for Canadian based interests in a number of countries in the Middle East, Africa, and South East Asia. He has worked with several startups including the crowd sourced problem solving platform Hive Wise, led the development of the marketplace platform GetNeighbour.com and most recently, co-founded the spin off venture MatchWork, a SaaS platform for the not for profit sector. He currently is the co-founder of Edmonton’s Founders’ Friday, which brings together some of the most innovative tech entrepreneurs in the city, to create a collaborative forum for start-up success. Kenya attained his MBA degree from Cornell University and his undergraduate degree in Mathematics & Physics from the University of Alberta.
Connie Nye has been the Operations Manager for Alberta Enterprise Corporation since 2011. She has over 20 years of management experience including owning and operating her own business as well as being the Executive Director for a number provincial sports association. Connie’s expertise include business plan development, financial procedures, board, policy & manual development, event planning and execution, grant applications, employee recruitment, and general office management. One of her career highlights was helping manage the exponential growth of the provincial triathlon association after the Sydney 2000 Summer Olympics. Connie holds a Diploma in Recreation Management from Lethbridge Community College and a Management Essentials Certificate from the University of Alberta’s School of Business.
