Accountability
Alberta Enterprise Corporation (AEC) is managed under the supervision of our independent Board of Directors. The Board is accountable to the shareholder, the Minister of Technology and Innovation in the manner set out in the Alberta Enterprise Corporation Act, Alberta Enterprise Corporation Regulation and the Alberta Enterprise Corporation Transfer Agreement.
The Auditor General of Alberta, the Corporation’s external auditor appointed under the Auditor General Act, performs an annual independent audit of Alberta Enterprise’s financial statements.
Corporate governance: disclosures
Alberta Enterprise Corporation (AEC) is required under the Public Sector Body Compensation Disclosure to post online the names and amount of compensation paid to all board members and employees who earn more than the threshold amount for that disclosure period. This serves to enhance public confidence by ensuring accountability and transparency.
Public sector bodies are required to post online the names and compensation paid to:
- all board members
- employees who earn over $159,833 (annual threshold 2024)
This is a requirement under the Public Sector Compensation Transparency Act, which applies to:
- agencies, boards and commissions governed by the Alberta Public Agencies Governance Act and any subsidiary, except those entities exempt by regulation
- independent offices of the Alberta Legislature
- employees of Covenant Health and its subsidiaries
- other public sector bodies identified in the regulations
